The World Elite Database (WED) is a cooperative data and analysis project led by researchers on economic elite populations across the world, to better understand economic power structures.
We are an international consortium of scholars from 22 countries (and counting). We work together to develop a new standardized dataset to study economic elites in each of these countries under study, following a single method. Publications that utilize data from the project feature all data-contributing scholars as authors.
A collective research note “Varieties of Economic Elites?” was published in The British Journal of Sociology. You can find it here as an open access article. The output also received coverage by the Financial Times. New scholarly articles are in progress.
Turkey has recently been added as a case. I lead the effort as Turkey team coordinator. You can see our team members here.
